The Main Pages are Done : Feedback Wanted

There are two pages to the Main Portal template
which will lead into the sub-domains...

All that is left to do on these pages is connect the links, ad the Adsense ads, add the messages from fox and mg, and upload to the site...

I'm assuming you're talking about the forums??? or...the website??? or...my intentions/plans for both???

I realize PM's and the blogs are a slow form of communication but right now that's all we have. It doesn't look like I'm ever going to be able to access the forums where they are...even tried to go through an on-line proxy...and still got locked out.

So...if you have any questions...or want to discuss possibilities...it looks like our options right now are somewhat limited.

Well...not for me...I'm still locked out...cleared cache...clicked log-on, messages, Idle Chat, members, and every time was redirected to the screenshot posted below.

Still only have access to veiw the front page...whatever he did...on purpose or by sheer stupidity..he should box, market and sell it to places like AO to keep out the trolls..talk about a SPECtacular solution :D

What I meant by that was that we plan to offer free sub-domains for those interested in having one to sell their products/services ( eg. mel's photos, foxy's tech, Noia says he has free stuff, etc...)...so...in order to complete the website we need to be able to include them...so...at the very least, just to make the sub-domains we need a name to call it and what service might be offered so we can include a write-up on the main page.

Preferably we'd like this info so we don't have to go back and update everything every time someone decides they want to do it...so...we're hoping people will come forward while we're creating them so we can include the links and write-ups now...instead of later. ;)

For most of these the only help I'll need will be to set the links and upload the pages into their sub-domains...then publish them...

some of these have flash areas and I don't have any thing to edit them or set the links...

then there's the forums, chat room, and classifieds...

and the individual service/journal pages.

Well...

I have the download on my computer for an exact copy of the site ( see post below )...and I have the PHPBB upgrade version too ( in standard silver )...

we could upload it to a sub-domain and start all over...but then we would lose everything up to that point...it would be a new forum...

so...I'm hoping we can somehow download the posts and upload them to the new forum if at all possible...

then the whiz can diddle with that one all he wants.

Mg thinks it's probably a mess up...I still think the whiz has something to do with this...
I think because he couldn't isolate my IP he somehow banned or he's causing the re-direction of a set of IP's...

and you just happen to be in that set with me...

what's the first digits of your IP? Just the first set.

As usual...I'm working on something :D ...

right now it's getting the templates ready for the website...I'll need some help uploading them adding the links and linking them all together...but right now it's just getting them the way I'd like them to be presented...

actually...I'm getting them done faster than I expected...but there's a lot of work to do...

of course I can't do the service pages...that's up to you guys to get er' done...so we don't have to go back and update the links too often...so...
like I tried to express on the blogs and the forum...if anyone has a product or service to sell/giveaway/promote then you need to get working on your template to be uploaded into a sub-domain...
I have templates if you need one...just tell me how to send it...

I'd like to have the website up and running by the end of March at the latest...that's means everything set up, working, and published...so I can start promotion...

the forums I'm not worried about at the moment...there's no sense worrying about something I can't do anything about...it's not in my hands...

the website is more important than the forums anyways...in the sense that every day it sits unused is a day we wasted our money on it...the forums cost nothing...the website is paid for and is sitting collecting dust...
time to shake the dust off and get er' done...;)

so...get after yourself, Noia, foxy, neel, catch, Undies, and the rest of them to start getting their sites ready to be uploaded...

in the meantime I'll try to get everything else as ready as I am able to.

Instead of offering little ads on a page for member services I think I'm going to opt for members considering selling/offering their services or products their own sub-domain with their own template...like the individual sites within TAZ..
I do already have several templates from tech templates like the temporary template that we are using now to gallery or journal-like templates if someone can't find one themselves...
I think this way will be better all around for several reasons...

1. it follows the concept on how I'd like each sub-domain to be a unique site in itself like the blogs

2. it gives more choices to those who wish to have a service page

3. it doesn't prevent us from setting it up...you see one of the major hold-ups to getting the TAZ going was waiting for the members to provide the information to include on the main page...this way the TAZ can move ahead without that as the service pages and links can be added as we go...

The TAZ Zone proper...note that when these pages are finished and set up they will be very low maintenance...requiring only periodic updating

I've also found the exact same template we use at the site with an older version of PHPBB that can be upgraded...

now we just have to upload it into it's sub-domain and figure out how to get the posts on it???

not a website and not blogs...the TAZ will be a collection of unique websites and pages within a website...like the uniqueness of the individual blogs...

consisting of the main portal page that gives links and thumbnail images and a breif description of the TAZ and the sites within...

I have considered that we might have to move the site if the whiz isn't able to keep up...and it appears with the upgrades to his server he is trying...
it's an inconvenience now but...better now than later when we have 500 posts a day instead of 100...
he knows, as I've already told him, that I will move the site if necessary, but for now I want to give the kid a chance...after all, it is a free site and up to now he has been very co-operative to my requests...
we are all new to this...us and him apparently, and we are the only active forum he has...I'd feel a little guilty just up and leaving...so...for now we'll just see how it goes.

Well...the bad news is the TAZ is once again down...but...the good news is the blogs are getting posts.

And that's a good thing! :D

I never intended for the Forums to completely replace the blogs...I hope they stay alive.

So...I see this as an opportunity for the bloggers to come back and revitalize the blogs with fresh posts. ;)

Another Day

Well...the forums have had there first dispute over the direction it's going...no problem...that was to be expected eventually...
sometimes it takes time for people to wrap themselves around something or a concept they're not used to...

birthing stages...every new concept goes through them...until people get their feet wet and settle in to the new ideas...

I just thought it'd take longer than 16 days before someone decided there was something wrong...only thing is there isn't anything wrong... it only ' seems ' wrong because it not what they're used to.

Live or die...I plan to stick behind this...and see what unfolds...either the concept will get grasped or the forums will turn into a carbon-copy of every other forum out there.

Well...I'm glad the forums are starting to pick up...up from 80 posts a day last week to over 100 a day now...
